Pulse Dance Project understands the importance of diversity and equity within the dance community. We feel the necessity to be a safe space for anyone who seeks to join regardless of race, sex, gender, and/or sexual orientation. To ensure that Pulse maintains a safe space, there are Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Chairs, who are tasked with overseeing this kept nature of the program. Any member who feels uncomfortable or has any problems regarding the issue of diversity, equity, and inclusion is always welcome to talk to the DEI chairs, who will address the problems accordingly. Pulse Dance Project will not tolerate any sense of exclusion amongst any of our members.

 

Additionally, Pulse strives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in a number amount of ways, such as:

• Hosting events to foster community and inclusivity within Pulse

• Ensuring that the audition process is held equitably and without discrimination from any board member

• Ensuring that Pulse board makes an intentional and active effort to increase the club’s diversity when making audition decisions

• Ensuring that concerns of accessibility, inclusivity, and affordability are considered across Pulse’s artistic decisions, including costume selection and sizing

• Making accommodations for members with financial or other specific needs

• Reviewing items on our social media or other creative content for concerns of inappropriate material that can offend any select group of people
