ABOUT US

Pulse Dance Project is NYU's premier dance company comprised of some of the most dynamic, passionate, and talented dancers and choreographers on campus who come from varying dance backgrounds. We provide an outlet for students to explore different styles, grow as artists, build community, and showcase their work to the NYU and greater NYC communities.

Each semester, Pulse hosts a series of rehearsals that culminate in a showcase every winter and spring. Pulse members have multiple opportunities to choreograph for the showcase and participate in pieces and projects choreographed by other members. Plus, we offer class slots for members who want to practice choreographing and teaching but don't want to commit to a full project or choreographing for the showcase!

Outside of rehearsals, Pulse hosts dance-related events including photoshoots, concept video shoots, and masterclasses, as well as community-building events such as our 'Pulsapalooza' party that happens at the beginning and end of each semester, movie nights, and our 'Meet the Newbies' picnic.
Once you are a member of Pulse, you are considered a member for life. Whether you are studying abroad or find yourself in a particularly hectic semester, we understand that it may not be feasible to find time to dance or choreograph every semester. For this reason, members are able to be inactive for a period of time and then re-join the club without going through the audition process again. We do our best to support our members, both active and inactive, in any way possible, as well as involve our alumni in our events and classes as much as possible.
